Overview

The Derm Collective North Shore was a specialized medical office build-out designed to support a modern dermatology practice with both clinical functionality and an elevated patient experience. The project required close coordination with ownership, end users, design partners, and trade contractors to align the space plan with medical equipment needs, patient flow, treatment room requirements, and back-of-house operations.

The scope included design management, interior build-out, layout coordination, electrical and HVAC adjustments for medical equipment, finish installation, and detailed trade sequencing within an active commercial environment. The result was a polished, highly functional dermatology office built to support efficient care delivery, staff workflow, and a professional patient-facing experience.

  • Goals:

    • Create a polished modern office space; Design around clinical workflow; coordinate medical equipment requirements.

    Challenges:

    • Equipment ventilation and sequencing requirements; Late-stage clinical layout decisions; Maintaining finish quality and schedule control.

    • Full interior medical office build-out for a dermatology practice

    • Exam rooms, treatment spaces, reception area, staff support areas, and back-of-house clinical spaces

    • Electrical and HVAC coordination to support specialized medical equipment

    • Interior framing, drywall, ceilings, flooring, millwork, finishes, and fixture installation

    • Trade coordination, schedule management, and field execution through project turnover

  • The project approach centered on aligning the design intent with the real-world needs of a functioning dermatology practice. Early coordination focused on understanding patient flow, provider workflow, treatment room requirements, and equipment needs so the build-out could support both clinical efficiency and a polished patient experience.

Because medical office projects require more than standard interior construction, the team closely coordinated electrical, HVAC, layout, millwork, and finish details around the practice’s operational needs. Trade sequencing was managed carefully to keep the project moving while allowing space for design refinements, equipment coordination, and quality control.

The result was a build-out delivered with a practical balance of schedule discipline, technical coordination, and finish quality — creating a modern dermatology office that worked as well for the care team as it did for patients.

  • Medical Operational Consultant that Jason Basso partnered with closely from design to execution to ensure a timely company launch and satisfied medical process requirements.

  • The completed build-out delivered a modern, polished dermatology office that balanced clinical functionality with a refined patient experience. The space supported efficient provider workflow, thoughtful patient movement, and the technical infrastructure needed for specialized dermatology care.

Why This Project Matters

The Derm Collective is an example of complete collaboration between design teams, operational consultants and general contracting partners. Without full cooperation and "team first" approach, a project of this scope loses focus.
